Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the exercise science program, the individual:
- Will possess the knowledge and skills for physical activity programming and lifestyle modification techniques and be prepared to work in a variety of health and fitness fields.
- Will be able to collaborate with a variety of health care professionals through consultations and referrals in a multi-disciplinary approach to wellness.
- Will be able to think critically to effectively solve problems in a variety of dynamic environments.
- Will understand the importance and process of becoming life-long learners in order to contribute to the fields of health and fitness.
- Will be an effective communicator among health care providers, fitness professionals, clients, administrators, family, and community in the delivery of lifelong health and wellness.
- Will practice with professionalism and integrity in their respective health and fitness field.
Curriculum
- Strong science base and exercise science core in conjunction with extensive professional preparation.
- Within the major, students will be prepared for and have the option of pursuing continued graduate education and outside certifications.
- Flexibility to prepare for a wide variety health/fitness careers.
- Students can fine-tune their education to suit their individual career path outcomes through the ability to complete the major along with one or two associated minors within four years.

Research Experience
An individualized internship or research experience will serve as the student's capstone experience in the major.
Internship placement will be individually designed to best match the needs of the student. Possible placement facilities include corporate fitness facilities, non-profit facilities, for-profit fitness facilities, and strength and conditioning facilities at the high school, college or professional level.
